Horse riding in Pucón: pure air, panoramic views and tasty barbecued meat!
There really isn't a better combination! If you like horses and eating barbecued meat from the bone you will love the options available in Pucón. It is easy to get distracted by the huge offer of "normal" activities in our Alpine adventure activity town. Visitors sometimes don't consider the whole day activities opting to spend their precious one full day summiting one of the local volcanoes. Yes there are loads of fantastic half day options such as rafting, canopy rides and canyoning, but how about throwing caution to the wind and allowing yourself to kick back and enjoy a full day combo of horse riding, amazing views over the forests, lakes and volcanoes topped off with a superb Chilean style barbecue?!
Sol y Nievehas its own quincho (country style bbq area with outdoor and indoor sections) just a few km outside of Pucón. The views are nothing short of spectacular and the horses know every inch of the territory. Your adventure will begin with a private transfer from town to the location of the quincho. Please note: If you don't take this trip with Sol y Nieve you will never get to visit this divine, yet secret, location with impressive panoramas on all sides!
You will have time to wander around and get to know your horse, and your horse will also have a chance to get used to your voice and touch, before gearing up. Your four legged experience will begin with a short briefing by your guide to explain how to manage your trusty steed on the different terrain you will travel across. Then it is chaps on and saddle up as you start out over ancient lava flow trails peppering the flanks of the Andes.
This route is perfect for beginners and more experienced riders alike. It is also a great choice for families. And what about offering this as a corporate day out? There are many companies in Chile that host clients from international branches. How about adding on an escape to the wilds of the south to make a guaranteed unforgettable impact?!
You will not tire of the views that appear along the route – glimpses of volcanic peaks, lush forest valleys and glistening cyan tinged lakes. Your horse knows the route well so you can just hold on, enjoy the vistas and lose yourself to the fresh breeze and clean country air.
After enough time in the saddle your horse will take the return trail to the quincho. The aroma of fresh meat cooking over coals will reach you before you catch sight of the buildings themselves. As soon as you have demounted you will find yourself with a beer in one hand and a "choripan" (spicy sausage in fresh bread) in the other.
The day will close with a full stomach and oh-so-very slightly aching muscles and as you are chauffeured back to your hotel you will be grateful that you took the decision to kick back and go for the whole day combo of horses and a great bbq experience.
Too often we postpone getting outside and enjoying a family day out, or just an activity with friends. In our fast-moving, gadget-orientated world there always seems to be something else more important to do. If you can free yourself of your self-imposed shackles and make the time for this full day you will be rewarded with perfect memories of how free you felt on that horse as you marveled at the perfect picture postcard backdrops around Pucón.
